BIOGRAPHY

Art Davis has been involved in the jazz scene for many years, performing at both public venues like The Bull's Head in Barnes, London, and private parties in London, the UK and overseas.

In that time, he has played with top musicians like trumpeter Quentin Collins (with whom he recorded a Chet Baker tribute album, "We Remember Chet"), saxophonists Brandon Allen, Alex Garnett, Tony Kofi and Renato d'Aiello, pianists Gareth Williams, Benet McLean and John Cervantes, and others.

Art Davis specialises in performing swing jazz, especially songs from the Great American Songbook (writers such as Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart, George Gershwin and others from the Golden Age of Broadway) and his influences include Frank Sinatra, Chet Baker and Harry Connick Jnr.

Before focusing on jazz, he performed several other styles of music, including blues and soul, and for many years he ran an 8-piece Stax/Atlantic Soul band.  These other musical genres are reflected in his jazzy, soulful singing style, which has been described as "Frank Sinatra meets Ray Charles".

As well as performing, Art Davis is also an accomplished composer and lyricist, particularly in the style of The Great American Songbook.  He has recently written a new jazz musical entitled "On Top Of The World" and several examples of his original songs are featured on this site, and in his gigs.

In addition to signing, Art Davis also plays guitar in a BB King blues style.
